  36. The volume slider only went to a low setting, there was no off setting
  37. at the extreme left. This is possibly due to the fact that my modem is
  38. a generic 28,800. I did receive information which did the trick and
  39. this is an extract from the response

  42. PANEL-MODEMS-PROPERTIES-CONNECTIONS-ADVANCED AND ENTER M0 (M AND ZERO)
  43. IN
  44. THE EXTRA SETTINGS BOX YOUR MODEM SHOULD STAY SILENT.
